The key note of the project is the rejection of any single identity or labelling. The covered indoor space is a function room, its inner walls rendered with a traditional oyster shell clay technique to form a very bumpy surface. With a width barely exceeding six feet at its thinnest the massive arch presents itself as being impossibly delicate to a point where it almost seems to defy the laws of physics. The planter walls of the cone act as a flag to attract people from a distance and showcase how living creatures can coexist with man-made structures, as this village did in the past. Landscape Arch is the longest of the many natural rock arches located in Arches National Park, Utah, United States. At over 290-feet in length, Landscape Arch is the longest arch within Arches National Park and the fifth longest arch on the planet. It splits into two, allowing light to penetrate the rooms from the openings. The inner spiral is a cone that supports the platform. This provides an elevated panorama of the village. It was eventually composed of two spirals the outer one rises from the ground to form a platform that connects to the adjacent buildings’ upper floor. This forms a very complex geometry, but was later manually simplified into triangles and quadrangles to fit the technical capacities of construction in a village. To illustrate all these alternatives, we selected fifteen projects that present different solutions in dealing with landscape. The general geometry comes from a computer-generated shape that embodies the function and power it needs to deliver. Sustainability and Performance in Architecture NABS measured the span of the slightly shorter Kolob Arch in Zion National Park at 287 feet (87 m) in 2006. The span of Landscape Arch was measured at 290.1 feet (88.4 m), 0.8 feet (0.24 m), in 2004. The Future of Architectural Visualization The Natural Arch and Bridge Society (NABS) considers Landscape Arch the fifth longest natural arch in the world, after four arches in China.
